Medical Mile

It all started with the founding of medical-research facility Van Andel Institute in 1996 along Michigan Street just northwest of downtown Grand Rapids. This area is now known as the Medical Mile a world-class healthcare destination. The clinical, research and academic institutions that now line the Mile have attracted medical professionals from around the world. Their influx has spurred new retail and residential developments, transforming this once sleepy neighborhood into a bustling center of activity. Along Michigan Street is you will find mostly Healthcare facilities while Crescent Street, just South of Michigan, is a quieter space, lined with homes full of character. A perfect place for busy healthcare professionals to call home- within walking distance to the adjacent hospitals and research facilities.
